This next step is one that you are sure to enjoy! “Give yourself a treat every day and take the time to really enjoy it”. You may have had a bad day or don’t feel that you deserve it, but do it anyway. You’ll find that your mood has started to turn.
You don’t need to do anything outrageous – just a little pampering can go a long way. If you’re short on ideas, here are some suggestions to get you started:

• Relax in a hot bath. Add aromatherapy salts or essential oils, light some candles and let yourself soak away the tensions from the day.

• Fill a vase (or two) with flowers. Studies have shown that flowers provide an emotional lift. So grab bouquet on the way home or harvest some flowers from your garden or yard. The color and fragrance will brighten your home and your mood.

• Give yourself a massage. There are many wonderful benefits to this, among them a reduction in stress, a release of endorphins and a boost to your immune system. You can use your hands and practice reflexology or use a mechanical massage unit.

• Cook your favorite dish. Take the time to savor the color and scent of each ingredient. Eat the meal slowly and take the time to really enjoy each bite. Make the event extra special by using your fine china, lighting some candles and sipping a glass of fine wine.

• Visit your local library or bookstore and pick up a book that you’ve been meaning to read. Take a break from the news and enjoy immersing yourself in a good story or learning about something new.

Taking the time to be good to yourself will help to boost your confidence and promote happiness. Even a few minutes of self pampering can put a fresh spin on your day. Treat yourself well and know that you deserve it.
